Natural woman....pics coming in August 2011

So i decided to go natural. No specific reasons really...just bored and I HATE WAITING in the hood for someone to apply my touch up or cur/flat iron my hair. So anyways i have nothing against relaxers and may eventually get one again depending on how this goes. This is my 3rd attempt of going natural but i've never gone natural by cutting the relaxer out the hair until now; Before i would just flat iron the roots every few weeks but i always grew weak and reapply the damn relaxer after a few months.

Again, i don't think there is anything wrong with relaxers. I will not bash it and i will not call it creamy crack since  i had that shit in my hair for 14 years so why front now it served its purpose when i needed it. My reason for this natural journey (natural as in no relaxers but ill still be weaving and wigging it until it grows to a comfy length or when i feel hair lazy) is not only due to impatience its also because i want to feel my hairs natural state.   I want to be free of the blow dryers and the flat irons for approximately a year and then we shall see where i go from there.

I'm really excited about this journey and i hope you check in on me every so often to see how it goes. :-)

ill update it in August with  pic of my TWA (teeny weeny afro) in August.

wish me luck.

  1. Everyone I know(now with you being the exception) who use relaxers have done so for their entire lives, because it was just something mom did that they grew up with. Seems like you actually started off natural and then went into using them, so you actually remember your natural hair somewhat and it won't be alien to you. This should be interesting. I hope you gain whatever you're hoping to from this experience. :D
